Monster Cookie Mix

It's that time of year for gift giving. This year my budget has focused primarily on the kids. Other than my two kids we don't have extra lying around for massive presents for the family. This year I decided to keep things simple and give the gift of food! I mean who doesn't love a good cookie. So this year I am going to put together a cookie mix and attach the directions to the jar. Simple, cheap, fun and homemade.

For the mix to fill the jar you will need:
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup mini candy pieces (m&ms)
1&1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter chips

Combine flour, baking soda and salt; place in mason jar with tight fitting lid. Top with layers of candy and oats. Mix the sugars; add to jar. Top with chips and cover with lid. Give this mix with recipe card.
Decorate the jar however you like. You can find some holiday fabric to put over the lid and then tie it down with a ribbon. You could also find some festive stickers to put on the jar.

Use card stock to write directions for the cookies and attach to the mason jar with ribbon.

Directions

1 jar cookie mix
3/4 c butter, softened
2 large eggs, beaten
1 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350
Empty cookie mix into large bowl breaking up brown sugar if clumped.
Work in butter with rubber spatula
Add eggs and vanilla; stir until well blended
Drop heaping tsp fulls of mixture 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet
Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown
Cool on sheet for 2 min before removing from sheet to wire rack to cool completely
